ALSAGER ANIMAL CARE CENTER

SURGERY

We offer a fully equipped surgery suite with the latest in technology.  We also offer laser surgery. We have three doctors who bring a lot of experience in the surgery room.  We are advocates for adequate pain control including injectable, oral, and the use of fentanyl patches when applicable. Our doctors pride themselves in their quest for continued knowledge on new surgery techniques that will benefit all of our patients.  All of our surgical patients are continuously monitored from the time they go under anesthesia to the time they are fully recovered by our highly skilled technicians.

Spaying/Neutering

We are strong advocates for controlling the pet population and encourage our clients to spay/neuter their pets.  This routine procedure helps reduce the risk of mammary or prostate cancers, and helps control certain unwanted behaviors.  These surgeries are out patient services requiring just a days stay at our hospital.  We typically spay or neuter at 12 weeks of age or recommend the procedure be done by 4 months of age.  However, with better technology and monitoring techniques we can spay/neuter at any age.

****We require that all routine surgical patients have current vaccinations and the dogs have current heartworm tests and the cats have current FELV/FIV tests.

We offer a variety of surgical services.  Not all surgeries are routine.  We would be happy to give you an estimate for surgical services that you request.

In an event that we are not equipped to handle a particular surgery, we will refer you to the necessary veterinary specialist to handle your needs.  We currently refer our patients to Michigan Veterinary Specialists (MVS) www.mvs.com  or Oakland Veterinary Referral Services www.ovrs.com  for specialized surgical care. You can visit their websites for more information or their locations.
